Are You Part of the Revolution?
At 8 0′ clock in the night, we discovered that there was no electricity at our house (wire to the electric meter was cut) and we had too much trouble getting an electrician at that time to get it fixed. When traced back, we found that the electricity bill for the last month was not paid. Bummer! I wished I could do some magic to get the bill credited from my card automatically but until I learn the magic, I had to do something. I had heard about online payment but never tried to get into details, guess this was high time to explore options to save time and energy which could be used for some constructive work. Bingo! such a facility was already available and all I needed was proper channel of information!!
That’s the kind of power “the information age” brings, everything has shrunk to the size of computer screen. It has brought the paradigm shift in our lives and the rules have changed. I remember my parents telling me the bank timings and days on which they are not open. When I started banking those things were obsolete, I could access the bank with some clicks and get money even at midnight.
Things like bill payment, banking, ticket booking have become so common that most of us never lived in an era when we had to go to offices physically for what appears to be trifles these days; yet there are a few things that require more awareness, income tax return filing being one of those. Not too long ago, out of ignorance I also paid to get return filed but when I tried it myself this time, I couldn’t help but became a fan of its simplicity!!
At times laziness is also instrumental in making life simple; if we are ready to take the trouble of standing in long queues, we’d miss the innovative stuff! We save not only energy but also time which can be utilized for better things in life. did someone say, “Time is money!” I’m with Victor Hugo for the following: “There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” In the information age an idea or information saves time, money and trouble. The key is to be lazy enough to find the easier way.
Remember 80/20 rule, 80% of our troubles are caused by 20% of the things. When in doubt, just ask. You never know a simple piece of information can save hours of work. We need to keep up with the ever-changing world and play with the new rules to exploit it to the fullest. As they say, “The rules have just begun to change and we need to equip ourselves to move with the cheese.”
Are you game to become part of the revolution?!
