Age is a State of Mind

with 2 comments

How do we measure maturity? By number of years we’ve been there or the number and variety of situations we’ve been in?? I believe in the latter but there are people who choose to disagree, not because they don’t understand my point but because they’ve been made to think the other way round. May be they didn’t get the freedom to explore life when it was their turn or may be they just want to play safe! Yea, this gives me another reason to laugh; my mind always rejects the notion of playing safe. Do we ever play safe by not having a kid because pregnancy involves a lot of risk!

What's Your Mental Age?

I’ve seen 24 springs and I still believe that age (maturity) is the state of mind; how else do you expect some young people to remain calm in toughest of the situations and so-called “matured” ones to make mistakes!

When you apply for graduation course, 16 years of education is required;  when you want promotion, there should be minimum number of months at a particular level. How does that matter when you are mentally prepared and intellectually eligible??

Didn’t they say, “It’s all in the mind!” Having said this, I don’t intend to undermine the value of experience. I just want the caliber to be considered by what we’ve done given the opportunity and how much are we able to apply that in different situations rather than in some numbers which makes no sense howsoever.

How old do you feel today!!

Saturday with Zig Ziglar

Thank you for utilizing the IRC Services. The documents borrowed from Information Resource Centre are over due. Kindly return the same to IRC immediately. These documents have reservations. If you need any further details do get in touch with IRC Staff.

Who are you lying to? I’ve checked the last issue date and seems like this CD was last issued more than a year ago! You seldom find people with this kind of interests in our business! I said to myself.

To give a background to this, I recently borrowed a Zig ziglar CD from IRC; this was my first attempt to use the information resource center which is similar to my kitchen in dimensions!! (They used to call it library in college but guess these corporate guys believe in using sophisticated words.)

I’ve read numerous books and the awesome experience of listening to an audio CD was my first time! When we read books we got to concentrate on it and there are so many visual and verbal distractions while you can listen with closed eyes and no other sound dares to disturb you. I was so inspired that I got one more of Zig Ziglar and the whole series of Rich Dad!

Tip to those who like reading, “try listening your favorite author (if available), it’s a blessing in disguise!”

I hope to finish everything before I get a reminder mail to return them.

What Inspires You

with 5 comments

’twas a Joyous Sunday morning and I was trying to resleep (if the word exists) when I heard my favorite heavy metal drumming.. who is playing drums so loud in the morning, I thought, trying to concentrate on my sleep.

After a while, it started again this time louder than ever. I woke up just to find out it was the ringtone of my cell phone!

Me: Hello.

P: Hi, How are you?

Me: I am good, what’s up with you?

some normal talk about work and life goes on for a while…

P: Hows your studies going?

Me: I couldn’t continue because of the heavy work schedule.

P: Dude, work is always there but you’ve got to concentrate on the priorities as well. Do you always want to work like this or would you like to be in a position where hundreds of them get working even if you shoot a single mail. This is the right time for you, get going and you’ll get what you deserve.

Those words were so inspiring that it made me start studying again for the higher cause. I wonder sometimes a simple incident or a couple of words can inspire us so much!

Inspiration factors are different for everyone, some get inspired by setbacks while others by success. During college days I used quotes to beat the exam stress and get studying (though it was not about marks, it was about more marks!).

When I googled it, I founds some great inspiration factors. For some people it’s the smile of their kid, rains for others. While some get inspired by nature’s beauty, others get enthusiastic by reading about it. Whatever may be the trigger, it’s effect that matters!! So, what’s inspiring you today?!

Take the Break and Enjoy it

with 2 comments

My friend:(12’0 clock in the night) Let’s go to Barista.

Me: Either you’ve gone crazy or got lots of money, moreover it won’t be open at midnight.

My friend (let’s call him ‘A’) makes a call to the nearest Barista which happens to be at the Leela Palace.

A: Hello, till what time are you open?

Voice at the other side: 1′o clock sir.

A: Good. thanks.

Bingo! Let’s Go.

At Barista

I was busy with some office work when I heard, “saale kitna kaam karega, chal le” (how much work will you do! come with us.)

We reached at 12.25 and to my surprise it was almost full. We were not the only ones who needed break from the stressed and busy life!

This gave me some time to think about the current life vs how I want it to be. We are so busy with work that we forget to do things for which we are working so hard! It’s like being so busy driving that we don’t get time to refuel the vehicle. what an irony!!

While I enjoyed my chocolate drink, the memory of school days’ flashed when we had all the time in the world and we didn’t know what to do. Soon enough we got back to the real world all geared up to face the challenging days ahead.

The gist is to enjoy the time in between the journey of success because successful life is about the moments we enjoy with our loved ones. :)

P.S. The guy in the pic is not me. I was the one clicking it.

Books Maketh The Man

with 3 comments

While I enjoy 24th spring of my life, it witnesses my reading count of 51! (well honestly, I didn’t keep a count but I guess I must have read at least 50 books since I started the hobby way back in the year 2000 when I was in class 8; yeah, it’s been 10 yrs now)

“Books are man’s best friends”, “We can’t experience everything ourselves, so we try to learn more about life by reading” I remember hearing all this in school but easier said than done, those were just words for most of them (not really sure how many of them followed). The guy who really got me into reading had different way to put it, he talked about his passion and how books changed his view towards the world; the way he lived the books and his unprejudiced thinking made him stand apart. That got my Green Hat thinking and made my join the club!

Books helps us think big, realize the power of our minds, think about everything from different perspective, have a positive attitude towards life. It lets us see the bigger picture of life! The other day my friend was in a kind of interviewing mood and following questions were thrown:

What's your favorite color?

Q:What Kind of Books do You read?

A: Books that enables us think differently about the same situations; which talk about mind, imagination, dreams, habits, thinking etc. Some call it non-fiction or self help-books but I like to call them “books that changes the way we think.”

Q: So you like Robin Sharma?

A: I certainly have read his books and they are awesome but he is not my favorite author.

Q: Which is your favorite book?

A: “the power of your subconscious mind” tops the list however “the alchemist” and “the magic of thinking big” are close as well.

Q: How does it help in long-term?

A: like personality, attitude and thinking develops over a period of time and didn’t they say “attitude determines the altitude.”

Q: If you were to recommend just 1 book, what would that be?

A:The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy.

Q: Can you sum up your 10 years’ experience with books?

A:They can change your life, it did mine! :)
